So, I just realised that amongst the craziness that was blogmas, I didn’t get around to sharing the photos from my trip to Seville!

Max took so many film photos and I shot my first roll of film, so it’s been difficult to whittle it down to my favourites, but I finally got around to it, and here they are:

I got serious holiday blues looking through these, get me to somewhere sunny asap!

365 Days in Photos

Last year I set myself the challenge of documenting 365 days in photos on Instagram. I did this because I was stuck in a rut, feeling down and depressed, full of the January blues.

It was an incentive for me to get out of the flat whilst taking photos which is something I’ve always loved doing!

This definitely worked, I found myself exploring more of Manchester than I’d of ever imagined, even if it was just finding cute independent coffee shops in the Northern Quarter, or going the extra mile to find some cool street art to share.

I can’t quite believe that I managed to share a photo every single day for a year, but I got the desired affect so I couldn’t be happier – I felt less depressed and more motivated to go out and do/see something new!

Now that the challenge is over, I’ve decided not to do it again this year. Although I really enjoyed doing it, I don’t feel like I need it anymore at this moment in time! I’d love to document an important year in the future, but for now it’s back to aimlessly scrolling and uploading whenever I feel like it (probably not for another month or so now, I feel all Instagrammed out hahaha)!

I thought it’d be cute to share on here some of my favourite posts that I made over the past year and reflect on the good times, the hard times and the past 365 days!

The past 365 days have been amazing, and it has been even more amazing looking back through them and reminiscing!

2017 Reflection

2017, what a year.

I saw the year in with some amazing friends and my boyfriend, I was shortly afterwards diagnosed with endometriosis, I finished my first year of university, I documented every single day on Instagram, I made new friends, rekindled old friendships, had hospital trip after hospital trip, celebrated 3 years with Max, drank a lot, went to so many gigs, explored new and old places, made the most of my summer with my love, had surgery to remove my endometriosis, started my second year of uni, was told my chances of having children is slim, celebrated my 22nd birthday with the most thoughtful people, relapsed with my poor mental health and disordered eating, took some pretty big personal steps to help myself, celebrated Max’s 21st birthday, by some miracle completed blogmas successfully, broke bad habits, had an early Christmas with my family, got on a plane to Seville and spent Christmas abroad with Max’s family, spent New Years Eve spontaneously dressed up as a mermaid in Manchester drinking an odd concoction of buckfast and irn bru and seeing 2018 in with some bloody incredible people.

2018, I’m ready for ya.

Day 18 – Decorating For Christmas

This year me and my flatmates decorated our apartment in Manchester in a bid to feel more festive! I am sad I wasn’t able to help with the decorations at home this year, but of course my parents had the house all Christmassy upon my arrival! Here are some snaps of both the flat in Manchester and my parents place in Birmingham:

So, we will start with Manchester:

“Merry Christmas” bunting
festive paper chains
winter attire bunting

Day 16 – December Favourites Christmas Edition

Album: This is a toss up between Gwen Stefani – You Make It Feel Like Christmas and Sia – Everyday Is Christmas!

Song: Mistletoe – Justin Bieber (don’t judge me)

TV / Movie: The Night Before, love a good Christmas comedy!

Place: Christmas Markets!!

Memory: December this year has gone so fast, I think though my favourite memory has to be the incredible snow we have had! I had such a magical day out in thick and heavy snowfall, it really reminded me of Christmas as a kid! I am also so glad that I got to enjoy some snow before jetting off to sunny Spain for Christmas.

Food: Home made pizza from the Christmas Markets

Drink: Mulled wine!

Enjoying the snow in Lancaster with Max, Lydia and Tom!

Accomplishment: I have completed 16 days of my first ever blogmas and I think you should read the past 16 days if you haven’t already hahaha

Day 15 – Christmas Day Traditions

Christmas Day in my home has always been go go go!

The tradition hasn’t changed much over the years, apart from where we all collate for lunch.

My classic Christmas Day usually begins at about 7am, when I get woken up by my sister (who is two years older than me – this tradition of her getting excited and waking up early has been there since we were kids! Some things never change haha). We wait for mom to come up and tell us it’s okay for us to come downstairs, then we all sit in the living room. Mom and Dad split the room into Maddie & Lydia sides so half of the room are my presents, the other half Lydia’s.

We sit and open presents, with a glass of bucks fizz in hand, and bacon butties on the go courtesy of dad! After this we usually go to church, then straight to my nan’s house to open more presents and see the whole family, which is so lovely.

This is where is changes most years. When I was a lot younger we would do Christmas dinner at my nan’s house, however that changed in my mid teens, when we started going out for lunch at a restaurant. This was always lovely and so nice that there wasn’t pressure on the family to cook however it didn’t seem as personal and wasn’t great for my little cousins wanting to run around and play with toys! So my lovely aunty Anne-Marie decided to take one for the team and we’ve been having dinner there every year since!

After lunch we usually play some games then have some home-made dessert and plenty of drinks (mainly alcoholic)! Then Anne-Marie works her magic again (she is an incredible chef) and puts a buffet platter out for late evening with some things to snack on, with tea & coffee whilst watching some shitty Christmas Day TV.

Just like I said in my Christmas Eve traditions blog, this year is going to be so different, I will be spending Christmas Day in Spain with Max’s family. I’m not really sure what we are doing other than going for lunch somewhere (I am super gutted to be missing out on Anne-Marie’s legendary Christmas dinner but I am so excited to be doing something new and changing the routine!!) and just chilling, but I am sure all will become clear!

How do you spend your Christmas Day?
